Brett Popplewell’s work has taken him from the rubble of an earthquake in Haiti to the site of a plane crash in Russia and a chess tournament in Iceland. His articles have been recognized by the National Magazine Awards Foundation in best short feature, profiles, investigative reporting, sports and travel. As the founding editor and publisher of a small literary journal called The Feathertale Review, he has led an editorial team to six National Magazine Awards including Best Single Issue in 2012 and 2014.
In 2016 he trekked to Mount Everest to complete work on his first book, The Escapist, the memoir of one of Canada’s most accomplished mountaineers. That book will be published by HarperCollins Canada in the fall of 2016.
Brett has a master’s degree in the History of International Relations from the London School of Economics. He is also a graduate of the Columbia Publishing Course in New York.
